Palaniappa Brothers was founded in 1941 by S.M. Palaniappa Chettiar. The company has grown and flourished because of his hard work and unshakable belief.

Beginning with Karanthai Kaviyarasan's 'Senthamil Katturaigal', Palaniappa Brothers has published over a thousand books in genres including Dictionaries, Literature, Fiction, Poetry, Essays, History, Science and Kids. The company is especially proud of its portfolio of full colour illustrated books for kids and its part in working with and developing a number of authors in this genre.

The company's products include books from such authors like Pandithamani, R. P. Sethupillai, Ayyan Perumal Konar, Namakkal Kavingyar, Avvai S. Dhuraisaamy Pillai, Mathurai Muthaliyar and G. Varadharajan.
